WTTW HIS WORD

SUNDAY

Psalm 95:6

Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;

John 13:18-30

“Glorified: His Death, Love, & Resurrection”

Paraphrase
After Judas left, Jesus told his other disciples that as Messiah he was now glorified with this glorifying God as well; and that with God being glorified by him as Messiah, God will also glorify His Son in Himself very soon.

Referring affectionately to them as his children, Jesus tells his disciples he won’t be with them much longer and in the same way he told the Jews, told them where he was going they wouldn’t be able to come.

He gave them the new command to love one another like he has loved them because by doing so everyone will know they are his disciples.

When Peter asked him where he was going Jesus told him he couldn’t follow him now but would later. Peter told Jesus that if he couldn’t follow him now he would lay down his life for him, which Jesus responded to by telling Peter that he would fail at this and instead by morning would deny even knowing him three times.
