WORSHIP THRU THE BODY

“Preparation”

To participate in the Lord’s Supper you will need a piece of bread and a small cup of juice or wine.

The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:27-28 says, “Therefore, whoever eats and drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

Apostle Paul’s threefold instruction in preparing for the Lord’s supper includes:

1)Warning against coming to the Lord’s Supper in a irreverent and sinful way.

2)Undergoing self-examination before partaking in the Lord’s Supper.

3)Understanding the true nature and purpose of the Lord’s supper.

“Gloria in Excelsis Deo”

Glory be to God on high.
And in earth peace towards men of good will.
We praise thee.
We bless thee.
We worship thee.
We glorify thee.
We give thanks to thee for thy great glory.
O Lord God, heavenly King
God the Father almighty.
O Lord, the only-begotten Son Jesus Christ.
O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
Thou that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
Thou that sittest at the right of the Father, have mercy upon us.
For thou only art Holy. Thou only art the Lord. Thou only art the Most High.
Thou only, O Jesus Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art Most High in the glory of God
the Father. Amen.

“Lord’s Supper”

The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed,
took bread, and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and said, “This is my body.
Which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way, after supper he took the cup,
saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood;
do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 1 Cor 11:23-26

“The Lord’s Prayer”

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory.
For ever and ever.
Amen

“Communion Scriptures”

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal
life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son
has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not
have life. 1 John 5:11-1

Until now you have not asked for anything
in My Name, Ask and you will receive, and
your joy will be complete. John 16:24

No temptation has seized you except what is
common to man. And God is faithful; He will
not let you be tempted beyond what you can
bear. But when you are tempted, He will also
provide a way out so that you can stand up
under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
and will forgive our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
on your own understanding; in all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths
straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

"Prayer"

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen

“Communion”

The body of Christ, given for you. (take and eat the piece of bread)

The blood of Christ, shed for you. (take and drink the cup of juice or wine)

“Closing Prayer”

We give you thanks,
almighty God, that you
have refreshed us
through the healing
power of this gift of
life, and we pray that
in your mercy you
would strengthen us,
through this gift,
in faith toward you and in
fervent love toward one
another; for the sake of
Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
