WTTW: HIS WORD

SUNDAY

“His Glory, Salvation & Flesh”

Psalm 95:6

Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;

GOD'S WORD: John 12:37-50

Paraphrase

Their continued unbelief in Jesus despite his many miracles fulfilled Isaiah’s prophetic question about who has believed our message and to whom has the lord been revealed?

Seeing Jesus’ glory, Isaiah, also spoke about how their continued lack of belief worked to blind them and make their hearts so cold that eventually it was impossible for them to believe and receive salvation.

Despite the unbelief amongst the people there were Jewish leaders who believed in Jesus although not openly because peer pressure made them fear excommunication from the synagogue if they went public with their belief.

Crying out, Jesus proclaimed that whoever believed in him believed in God his Father who he had come into the world to reveal as Light & Life so those who believed in him would not remain in the darkness & death of their sin.

Jesus said he didn’t judge those who hearing his word still rejected him because he came to save, not judge the world. Instead, he said those who heard his words but rejected him would be judged by the words he had spoken – words of eternal life his Father had commanded him to say – words so important he had said them exactly as his Father had told him to.
